Shakatak with a Very Best Of their successful lounge sound between soft pop, jazz and funk on tour for the band's 45th birthday

(thk) Shakatak 2025 is celebrating its 45th anniversary with a Very Best Of... album and is also coming to Germany as part of an anniversary tour. The British pop-jazz-funk formation's program includes the cream of its melodic, partly instrumental lounge sound. Their name became famous between 1981 and 1987 thanks to hits such as “Easier Said Than Done”, “Night Birds”, “Invitations”, “Dark Is The Night”, “Down On The Street”, “Watching You” and “Mr. Manic & Sister Cool”.

Shakatak are at their best in their original line-up. This consists of the leading pianist/keyboardist Bill Sharpe, Jill Saward (lead vocals, flute), bassist George Anderson and Roger Odell (drums) as well as guitarist Keith Winter.

For the 90-minute performances on their guest tour, the group, which was founded in 1980, can draw on a full range of resources and show why they have been in demand internationally in concert for over four and a half decades. Visitors to their concerts will confirm what was written in the magazine of the world-famous 'Ronnie Scott's Club': “Shakatak's music still sparkles today just as it did when you first heard it. This formation is not just a band, their songs also provide the soundtrack to many people's lives.”
