THE CREAM OF CLAPTON Band
ENDORSED BY THE MAN HIMSELF, PRE-EMINENT CLAPTON TRIBUTE BAND ANNOUNCE THEIR 3RD GERMAN TOUR WITH JEFF BECK DRUMMER, GERMAN SENSATION, ANIKA NILLES!
Firmly establishing themselves as the ‘New Gen,’ go to band, celebrating the musical legacy of a legendary musician, The Cream Of Clapton Band continue to bring together family, friends, bandmates and A-list musicians to perform live on stage…………….
From February 12th to March 3rd, 2025, The Cream Of Clapton Band present ’24 Nights Revisited’ across Germany, paying homage to the record breaking concerts in 1991 at The Royal Albert Hall. Founding members Will Johns (Clapton’s nephew) and Noah East (son of Nathan East, and Eric Clapton’s bass player) will be joined once more by Austrian bass virtuoso Julia Hofer, and from Germany and the Jeff Beck Band, one of the most talked about drummers of our time, the formidable Anika Nilles.
Thirty-year-old bass player and cellist, Julia Hofer, played with us for the first time in 2024. She made an immediate impact, both musically and with her infectious spirit. Her bass solos quickly became a highlight of our live show. No wonder she has become one of the most talked about musicians in her native Austria and Germany.
She picked up the cello at 8 years of age and quickly won several prizes and scholarships. At 16, she began playing bass guitar and moved to Vienna to complete a bachelor’s degree in music and education. She has gone on to complete two Master’s degrees and teaches at the Gustav Mahler Private University in Klagenfurt and at the Jam Music Lab, in Vienna. Julia has played in many bands and theatre productions, across many genres, including tours with ultra-successful German all-female pop group ‘No Angels.’ She first came to people’s attention on YouTube with her simple but compelling videos that work through much loved bass lines from classic songs played by the greats, including, of course, Nathan East!
Since bursting onto the music scene 10 years ago, German drumming phenomenon, Anika Nilles, quickly became one of the most talked about players in the business. Reflecting this, she had the honour and privilege to be asked by the late, great, Jeff Beck, to join his band in 2022.
Anika has won multiple awards, is a prolific educator, teacher and recording artist, with a YouTube channel that can boast well over 23 million views. She composes music for her own band, Nevell, which fuses together urban jazz, modern funk and progressive rock, to showcase the musicality and virtuosity of those involved.
This unique project continues to build its reputation given the truly original sound, musical arrangements and electric, live concert experience they deliver.
Given the successful 2023 reissue of the Royal Albert Hall concerts, dubbed ‘The Definitive 24-Nights’ and heavily influenced by the original foursome of Eric Clapton, Nathan East, Greg Phillinganes and either Steve Ferrone or Phil Collins on drums, this next generation of musicians believe it’s the perfect time to celebrate this historic and popular period of an extraordianry career “Of course, we’re playing classics like Cocaine, Sunshine of Your Love, Badge and Layla” says Will Johns. “But there are many great songs that haven’t been performed for some time from the Gold and Platinum selling albums Behind the Sun, August and Journeyman, such as Bad Love, Tearing Us Apart, Holy Mother and Run, all of which led to Eric’s record breaking 24-night residency at the Royal Albert Hall.”
Johns is British icon Pattie (‘Layla’) Boyd’s nephew and got to know his “Uncle Eric” as a boy, which included an introduction to his two lifelong loves: fishing and the guitar. His father is the late, great, Andy Johns, legendary record producer and engineer for the likes of Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Van Halen.
23 year old Noah East has played the piano from four years of age and listened to his father play with Clapton since he can remember:
“Our goal is to do justice to this incredible body of work and, blessed as we are, with the support not only of Eric and my Father, but many members of Eric’s band past and present, we have the confidence to interpret these songs in our own way, which is so exciting.
So many great musicians want to come along and sit in with the band, so we’ve decided to invite ‘special guests’ as often as we can. For our third tour in Germany, we are blessed once more with the amazing Julia Hofer on bass (my father’s favourite new bass player!) and from The Jeff Beck Band, we have the extraordinary Anika Nilles playing drums. It’s going to be amazing!”
